Health Travel Tips
Travel can be hard on our systems – especially international travel. We are exposed to new “bugs” in the
water, food and air. Supporting our immune system and strengthening our intestines are essential to
staying healthy.
- Support your intestinal tract by taking “friendly bacteria” – also called probiotics. I believe this is the
single most important thing you can do to stay healthy while traveling.
- Travel often exposes us to new food – whether we travel to a new city or a new country. Digestive
enzymes help our body process and assimilate the food we eat.
- Drink plenty of water – preferably spring or filtered water.
- Start your trip well rested.
- Plan ahead. If you have special nutritional needs, take what you need with you or research your
destination to be sure what you need is available.
- Sleep according to the time zone you are in.
- If traveling over several time zones, it’s best to avoid alcohol and caffeine while traveling.
- Carry some nutritional food or energy bars with you. Don’t depend on airport or airplane food.
- The best way to prepare for traveling is to have a healthy immune system and intestinal system
before you ever leave home.
